| General comment on data set | The dataset has been developed in LIFE EFFIGE project. Details are given in “PEFCR of contracted supply service for school meals” (lifeeffige.eu). The background system is not included in the model. To complete the inventory, the use of data from other published database is necessary. The dataset includes the model of a Distribution Centre. The DC space-time is allocated to frozen goods based on the DC capacity, the volume occupied by the product and the storage time. |

| Technology description including background system | The dataset includes the model of a Distribution Centre (DC) for dry, chilled and frozen storage. The DC modelled is a 30000 m2 building, 10 m high, and with a 30,000 m2 parking. Life of the building is 80 years. Chilled and frozen storage areas are 30% of the total area. The area of services is 5% as well as the area of offices. The actual capacity of the DC has been assumed to be 72,000 m3 for ambient storage and 36,000 m3 for chilled/ frozen storage. The model includes infrastructure and building; electricity, natural gas and water consumption; refrigerant gases consumption and leakages. The DC impact per product has been calculated using an allocation based on the total storage capacity of the DC. The storage volume of frozen goods has been assumed twice their actual volume and frozen goods have been assumed to be stored for 4 weeks on average. |
