General comment on data set | Dataset developed within the ARCADIA project in the context of the PhD of Federica Carollo (Politecnico di Milano). The dataset relates to extracting a tonne of the natural mixture from a sand and gravel quarry in the Lombardy Region. The dataset is composed of 3-unit processes: 1) Input or sand and gravel; 2) Diesel consumption for the extraction; 3) Transport to final use (average sale distance). |

Technology description including background system | The mining activity consists of two main phases: the extraction of sand and gravel from natural deposits and subsequent processing. The processing usually consists of a screening line to produce the various sand and round gravel granulometry and a parallel line for shredding and screening the coarser fractions to make the "split". In addition, the sands are usually subjected to washing and cyclone cycles to separate the ultra-fine and silty substances that take root on their surface and must be removed when you want to use the sands in cement and bitumen production. Good the Reliability; Very Good the Geographical representativeness; Very Good the Time representativeness; Very Good the Technological representativeness. |
