Technological representativeness
Technology description including background system The functional unit is 1 p (1 unit) single seater school desk; the total weight of the school desk is 12.60 kg (its dimensions are 50 cm*70 cm*76 cm (height)). The production process begins with the arrival of steel bars, particleboards panels, sheets of HPL laminates and beech slats at the manufacturing company. Steel bars are cut and welded to form the raw frame, then the steel frames are pre-treated, kiln dried, painted and polymerized. At the same time, particleboards panels and HPL laminate sheets are cut and glued together. The beech slats are glued around the edge of the wooden top. The iron steel and the wooden top are finally assembled. No final packaging is used. The production of equipment and infrastructure is not included, except for the background system. Primary data (Veneto and Abruzzo supply chain) representative of the Italian supply chain for geographical characteristics and technologies used (machinery, equipment, etc.) were collected. Inventory data were collected as physical quantities of materials used in different processes. The benefits derived from the production and use of energy from incineration and landfill, as well as from the use of secondary materials produced by the recycling of waste materials (such as plastic and cardboard) were excluded. Background data were modelled according to Ecoinvent v. 3.7.1

The review was performed in compliance with Arcadia Metodology “Metodologia per gli studi di filiera della Banca Dati italiana LCA” and ISO 14040-44norms. The dataset has been assessed limited to the foreground data collected during the supply chain studies. Each dataset has been evaluated on the basis of the following 4 criteria: 1. TechnologicalRepresentativeness 2. Time Representativeness 3. Geographic Representativeness 4. Reliability (Affidabilità) In this contest the Reliability is good.
